FAQs

Is your service better/faster than XYZ company?

  • Leap Communications is committed to building the best network to provide the best service, using the latest technologies available.  Others may advertise “Best” “Fastest” “Most Reliable” but we prefer to speak with our actions by letting you try the service for yourself.  We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the service we offer.

Your competition is "cheaper", why is that?

  • It could be any number of reasons but it’s most commonly because they are offering you an introductory rate while simultaneously locking you into a long-term contract.  To us, that’s a dishonest business tactic and insinuates that they need to “lock you in” to keep you from leaving their service.  We do our best, day in and day out, to make sure you’re always satisfied with our service.

  • Many providers like to advertise a very low rate but then tack on loads of additional fees.  We caution you to make sure you read the fine print on these services, many have hidden fees, such as, surcharges and mandatory monthly equipment rental fees that can be as much as an additional 25% on top of your internet service charge.

How does your service work?

  • Leap Communications utilizes the latest in fixed wireless communications technology to connect your home or business to our network.  Our transmission equipment is installed on tall towers, across the country side, which transmits to our receipt equipment that we install at your home.

So is it satellite internet then?

  • No, Leap Communications uses a land-based fixed wireless communications network WE built.  What this means for you, is extremely fast speeds with ridiculously low latency.  And best of all, our network is not plagued by issues such as solar flares and extremely high latency like satellite-based delivery networks are.

What is latency and why does it matter to me?

  • Latency is the time it takes for a packet to be sent from your computer, through the internet to a destination (website) and then back to your computer.  Think of it like the time it takes for you to drive from your house, pick up that hot pizza for supper and then drive back home.  If you have to drive a few thousand miles to do this, like satellite-based internet service providers, it’s going to take long time to make that trip and your pizza will be cold, whereas with our fixed wireless network, you would only be driving a couple of miles.  To put this into real numbers, a satellite system will typically have 300-800 mS of latency, whereas the Leap Communications network is less than 10 mS of latency.

Can I get your service at my house?

  • We’re constantly expanding and growing our network to be able to provide more and more people with the quality internet service they deserve.  Please call or email with your contact information and we’ll be able to tell you for sure.

Do you offer home phone service or television service?

  • We feel that by focusing on one thing, we’re able to do that thing exceptionally well, instead of spreading our resources across multiple facets of the business and only doing an OK job at each of those things.  Additionally, there are many established internet-based phone and TV streaming services to choose from that each do an exceptional job.  Pairing those with your Leap Communications internet connection gets you, the customer, the best of all worlds.

What does a typical installation look like?

  • To be able to receive our service, our professional installers will install a small antenna on the outside of the house (smaller than a satellite TV dish).  They then will discretely run a cable from that antenna into your house.  We don’t like ugly cables draped all over the outside of our house any more than you do, so we do our best to hide our work.  Once it’s cabled into the house, it’s simply connected to a power supply that we provide.  From there you just plug your existing wireless router into that same power supply and you’re up and running!  No need to change wireless settings on all of your devices or update usernames and passwords; all of your existing setup remains untouched.

Is there an installation fee?

  • Standard installation, which includes providing the antenna, power supply, mounting equipment, cables and professional installation is a one-time fee of $99.  Extenuating circumstances may incur additional fees but those will always be discussed prior to any work being done.

Do I have to buy/lease the equipment or provide a deposit?

  • The simple answer is no!  We provide all equipment free of charge, as well as maintain that equipment at our cost.  Our goal isn’t to nickle and dime you out of every bit of money we can, we just want to provide you with the quality internet service you deserve.

Do I have to sign up for a contract?

  • We like to keep things as simple as possible and we’re confident you’ll love the service we provide, so this means no contracts!  You simply pay month-by-month or whatever schedule works best for you.

What type of uptime do you have?

  • Leap Communications makes every effort to avoid unforeseen outages by employing numerous levels of redundancy throughout our network.  By doing this, we’re able to achieve and maintain 99.9% uptime.  In an ideal world we’d love to have 100% uptime but as with any technology, there are always unforeseen circumstances that rarely interrupt or slow service.  You can rest assured that we’re designing, building and maintaining a network to provide as much uptime as humanly possible.  Any scheduled service interruptions (due to maintenance) will be communicated days in advance.

How do I pay my bill?

  • We offer a number of different payment options to make it as easy as possible.  We accept checks through the mail, as well as credit and debit card payments through the customer service portal online.  We also offer automatic payment options such as ACH bank transfers and recurring credit and debit card payments.  If you want to pay annually, quarterly, semi-annually or any combination in-between, we offer that as well!
